March 8 is International Women’s Day. It is a day that is recognized and celebrated globally for the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women, and for raising awareness of women’s rights and equality.
Cartel Communication Systems celebrates all the amazing women that work here and contribute to the company’s success, Alannah, Anna, Elizabeth, Erin, Ivy, Jesse, Josie, Katarina, Kirsten, Manon, May, Sandie, Sarah, and Shanna.
As an organization Cartel values diversity and recognizes the importance of women in leadership roles. In 2020, Erin Sawyer joined Cartel as the Director of Projects Services, leading a team of diverse professionals responsible for project implementation. Erin exemplifies our guiding principles and core values by being an exceptional leader, improving our responsiveness and delivery, and being a catalyst bringing our teams together.
I have always lived by the notion that you should do what makes you happy. If you want to be the Prime Minister, go for it. If you want to be a teacher, a business owner, stay-at-home parent, the CEO of a company, or a combination of the above all are admirable BUT isn’t it nice to have the ability to choose. As we mark another International Women’s Day, I would like to thank the women that have come before me and forged a path so that we have this choice. Women who have fought and, in some cases, given everything for gender parity and for a chance to follow the path that would make them happy. That is what equality means to me. It is about choice and chance. Being given the same opportunity as my male counterparts and creating an environment that allows for women to grow and develop their individual talents. In the immortal words of RBG “I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.” Erin Sawyer.
Introducing Jessie Martin, our newest Project Specialist to join the Cartel Team. From an early age, Jessie has always been interested in the field trades. This grew further when she entered high school and then she pursued her interests through the building renovation technology program at George Brown College. Jessie started fresh out of college in carpentry, then quickly moved into general contracting for a couple of years before finding her home in the telecommunications trade. She loves the fast-paced in the Telecom industry, and she continually finds new learning new opportunities as she works on a multitude of in-building coverage projects.
This month Jessie won our core values award, receiving the highest accolades from her peers. Congratulations Jessie!
